Ruan Changgeng, Cheng Jing and Xia Zhaofan from the Division of Health Engineering.  They delivered public lectures and met with CUHK representatives to discuss collaboration opportunities in marine observation, cyber security, biomedical engineering and surgery.

The delegates were warmly received by CUHK senior management members including Prof. Joseph Sung, Vice-Chancellor and CAE Academician; Prof. Fanny Cheung, Pro-Vice-Chancellor; Prof. Wong Ching-ping, Dean of Engineering; and Prof. Henry Chan, Assistant Dean of Medicine.  Meetings were held to receive updates on the developments of the University. Academia International Conference on Economic and Financial Cooperation: Hong Kong and the World under the Belt and Road Initiative

The Hong Kong Institute of Asia-Pacific Studies (HKIAPS) of The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) and the Central Policy Unit (CPU) of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) co-organized an academia international conference to explore the opportunities and challenges arising from the Belt and Road Initiative on 15-16 December 2016 on CUHK campus. Over 300 guests attended the opening ceremony. Officiated at the ceremony were Prof. K.C. Chan, Acting Financial Secretary of the HKSAR Government, and Prof. Fanny M. Cheung, Pro-Vice-Chancellor of CUHK.

The two-day international conference aims to bring together scholars, think tanks and other stakeholders from the Belt and Road countries and regions to explore the opportunities and challenges of the Initiative, with special emphasis on Hong Kong's roles, functions, and contribution. It is also hoped that through this conference, a research network on the Belt and Road regions can be built up to facilitate further research exchanges and collaborations in the future.

With the aim to further enhance the academic linkage in Belt and Road Initiative among Hong Kong, Guangdong and Macau, the Office of Academic Links (China) coordinated with the partner institutions under the Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macau University Alliance for the participation. A total of 7 academic members from the 3 regions joined the conference, actively taking part in the expansion of collaborative development in research.
