On 18 May, Prof. Joseph Sung, Vice-Chancellor Designate of the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) led a delegation to visit Ningbo and Suzhou to explore exchange opportunity. The delegation comprised Prof. Joseph Sung, Vice-Chancellor Designate; Prof. Benjamin Wah, Provost; Prof. Kenneth Young, Pro-Vice-Chancellor; and Prof. Xu Yangsheng, Associate-Pro-Vice-Chancellor.
The delegation met with Mr. Mao Guanglie, Mayor of Ningbo. The delegates visited the Nottingham University Ningbo (UNNC), Ningbo University, Soochow University, and Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (XJTLU). Members met with Prof. Nick Miles, the new provost and CEO of UNNC; President Nie Qiuhua of Ningbo University; President Zhu Xiulin of Soochow University; Executive President Xi Youmin of XJTLU to understand the development of the universities in Ningbo and Suzhou. For the trip in Ningbo and Suzhou, Dr. Lee Dak-sum, Board of Trustees of New Asia College and Mr. David Chu, Director of the C.W. Chu Foundation provided great assistance in the coordinating the programme and accompanying the delegation in some visit activities. The visit provided CUHK delegates a valuable opportunity to have a general picture of the education development in Ningbo and Suzhou, and helped build links between CUHK and the tertiary institutions in the two cities. |
