Prof. Joseph Sung, Vice-Chancellor of the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) led 7 member delegation visited Ningbo to attend the Ningbo-Hong Kong Economic Co-operation Forum on 18 September 2012. The delegation included Prof. Joseph Sung, Prof. Yeung Yue-man, Emeritus Professor of the Department of Geography and Resource Management (GRM); Prof. Shen Jianfa of GRM; Dr. Ella Chan, Director of the School of Continuing and Professional Studies (SCS); Ms. Wing Wong, Director of Academic Links (China) and Mr. Kenneth Chan, Senior Mainland Affairs Manager of SCS.
The Ningbo-Hong Kong Economic Co-operation Forum was jointly organized by the Ningbo Municipal People's Government and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council to promote co-operation between the two cities. CUHK delegates attended Ningbo's Internationalization Strategy Research Roundtable, Ningbo-HK Education Co-operation Forum, and the Bay Economy Development Forum cum Sanmen Bay Area Information Session. Prof. Sung said in his opening speech at one of the Sub-Forums – Strategic Round Table Meeting on Internationalization of Ningbo City and expressed that CUHK constantly makes efforts in collaborating with academic and research institutions on the mainland, including exchange links established in Ningbo. He believed that with the continuous efforts and supports, CUHK will expand the scope and level of collaboration in fields of common interests. Prof. Yeung Yue-man and Prof. Shen Jianfa delivered talks on internationalization of Hong Kong and the development of Hong Kong Airport respectively at the Roundtable Session. Prof. Yeung also shared his views regarding the experience of Hong Kong with the academics and government officials of Ningbo in the Bay Economy Development Forum. Besides, CUHK representatives attended the Ningbo-HK Education Co-operation Forum where they exchange views with specialist and scholars on the education development in Hong Kong and promote academic exchange and collaborations between the two regions.
