The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) held the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE) Academicians Visit Programme cum Lecture Series from 23 to 26 January 2018 on campus. Two distinguished academicians were invited to CUHK this year, including Prof. Yang Baofeng, Director of the Division of Health Engineering and Prof. Li Deyi from the Division of Information and Electronic Engineering. They delivered public lectures and met with CUHK representatives to discuss collaboration opportunities in areas of Artificial Intelligence and pharmacology during their stay at CUHK.
The delegates were warmly received by CUHK senior management members including Prof. Rocky TUAN, Vice-Chancellor; Prof. Fanny CHEUNG, Pro-Vice-Chancellor; Prof. WONG Kam Fai, Associate Dean (External Affairs) of Engineering; Prof. LAN Hui Yao , Assistant Dean of Medicine; and Prof. CHAN Wai Yee, School Director of Biomedical Sciences. Meetings were held to introduce updates on the developments of the University. On 24 January, the academicians delivered public lectures for the Lecture Series by Academicians to share their experience and expertise in their respective fields of research. Over a hundred people including academics, researchers and students from CUHK and other universities as well as members from the general public were attracted to the lectures.
The two academicians also paid visits to various teaching and research units of CUHK,such as Faculty of Engineering, Department of Systems Engineering and Engineering Management, the Orthopadeic Learning Centre and the Centre for Innovation and Technology. During the visits, they met with relevant faculty members to exchange ideas and explore possibilities for further research collaboration.
