-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Vice-President of Sichuan University Visits CUHK
Prof. Yan Shijing, Vice-President of Sichuan University, visited the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) on 13 March 2015 to enhance links and discuss new collaboration opportunities.
The delegates met with Prof. Fok Tai-fai, Pro-Vice-Chancellor; Prof. Hui King-man, Pro-Vice-Chancellor; Prof. Cheung Wai-hung, Associate Vice-President; Prof. Chan Ka-leung, Dean of Medicine, Prof. Chan Wai-yee, Director of School of Biomedical Sciences and Prof. Chan Hsiao-chang, Director of Epithelial Cell Biology Research Centre to understand the recent developments of CUHK. A renewal agreement on Joint Laboratory for Reproductive Medicine between the two universities was signed to foster research collaboration. The delegation next visited the Prince Wales Hospital to learn more about the recent development of the University in obstetrics and gynaecology. The visit further nurtured friendship and enhanced ties between the two universities, which paved the way for further collaboration. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Visit led by Vice-President of South China Normal University
A 4-member delegation led by Prof. Wu Jian, Vice-President of South China Normal University, visited the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) on 25 March 2015. Prof. Hau Kit-tai, Pro-Vice-Chancellor of CUHK warmly greeted the guests and introduced them to the updates of the University's developments. Both sides also took the opportunity to discuss the possibilities to expand the exchange projects at various levels. The visit enhanced mutual understanding and established closer links between the two universities.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Delegation from Shaanxi Institute for the Preservation of Cultural Heritage
A collaboration agreement was signed between the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) and the Shaanxi Institute for the Preservation of Cultural Heritage on research project of Ancient Chinese Gold Working techniques on 24 March 2015. Participating guests at the signing ceremony comprised Mr. Zhao Qiang, Director of the Shaanxi Institute for the Preservation of Cultural Heritage and CUHK representatives including Dr. Ralph Ip, Director of Office of Research and Knowledge Transfer Services; Professor Jenny F. So, Director of Art Museum, Ms. Wing Wong, Director of Office of Academic Links (China) and Mr. Cyrus Lam, Assistant Director of Office of Institutional Advancement.
The project will focus on the reconstruction and specialized study in traditional goldsmith techniques, such as gold/silver inlay, granulation, filigree, kingfisher blue, cloisonné, gold wire, repoussé, chasing, engraving and gilding, sponsored by the Chow Tai Fook Jewelry Co., Ltd. This interdisciplinary research will be the first project to combine scientific analysis into archaeological study, art history and goldsmith experience. The achievements will be shared with the general public via the forthcoming exhibition in Hong Kong, Xi'an, Shanghai (or Beijing) during 2016 and 2017. |
