Programme Details

The Division of Electronic Engineering is inviting enrolments from prospective students for its Master of Science Programme for academic year 2020-2021.

Continuous professional development is essential to electronic engineers to open new doors and to excel at work. This is what we want to offer in our Master's Degree programme.  

The M.Sc. Programme in Electronic Engineering is wide in coverage and allows students to choose freely according to their aspirations and interests. It includes advanced subjects in areas of solid-state devices, photonics, fiber network, video technology, VLSI, bioelectronics and Intellectual Property Management (IPM).

Students can take at most two courses from other M.Sc. Programmes within the Faculty of Engineering. Full-time mode students are also allowed to take other day time postgraduate courses offered by the Department of Electronic Engineering.

Students will engage with our research laboratories, working with research postgraduate students on a specific engineering project under supervision of a faculty member.

Normative study period

Full-time: 1 year; Part-time: 2 years

Admission requirements 

Students with a bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Information Engineering and Computer Engineering may be admitted to this Programme. Students with a first degree in other fields such as Physics and Mechanical Engineering may also be considered provided that they have some experience and background in electronic engineering. The entrance requirements of the graduate school must also be satisfied.

Top three Graduating students of the MSc Programme in Electronic Engineering with an accumulated GPA of 3.5 or above attained in one year, or have attained academic merit on completion of an outstanding MSc project dissertation will be awarded one of the following Graduation Scholarships.

Programme Description

The Doctor of Nursing Programme (DNurs) is practice-focused, and students are required to complete 42 units of courses and an Advanced Nursing Practice (ANP) project. This programme is designed to prepare master's-prepared nurse clinicians and executive leaders for the highest level of clinical practice to improve health and healthcare outcomes, and to translate research into practice. Our students are expected to build on their existing knowledge to develop advanced clinical and leadership expertise in dealing with complex health conditions across the continuum of care.

Mode of Study

Part-time: 4 years

  • Have a Master of Nursing degree or equivalent from a recognised university;
  • Be a registered nurse and normally possess at least two years of post-registration experience;

Master of Nursing Programme (2-year part-time)

Programme Description

The Master of Nursing Programme is a clinically-based programme aiming to equip graduate nurses with the knowledge and competencies to incorporate theories and concepts of nursing science and the leadership and management skills into advanced nursing practice in a clinical specialty. The programme emphasises the development and utilisation of evidence-based knowledge, advanced clinical skills and management and leadership skills. It also prepares students to pursue nursing career advancement or postgraduate studies at a doctoral level.

2-year part-time programme

Admission Requirements

  • Have a bachelor's degree, normally with honours not lower than Second Class; or
  • Graduated from a recognised Bachelor of Nursing programme with an average grade of not lower than “B”; and
  • Be a registered nurse; and
  • Fulfil the English Language and other requirements stipulated by the Graduate School of CUHK (please click here for details).

Programme Description

The Master of Nursing Science (Pre-registration) Programme is a three-year full-time credit-based programme designed to prepare those with a bachelor’s degree in any discipline for a career in nursing. This master’s entry programme aims to provide students with the opportunity to study the art and science of nursing from different perspectives and to develop their skills in clinical decision making, critical thinking and problem solving. Successful completion of the programme will enable the graduate to register as a Registered Nurse (General) with the Nursing Council of Hong Kong (NCHK).

Mode of Study

3-year full-time

Admission Requirements

  • Have a bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognised university, normally with honours not lower than Second Class (or equivalent);
  • Have a good command of written and spoken English and Chinese (Cantonese);

Programme Description

The programme is designed to equip bachelor’s-prepared registered nurses with a solid foundation for advanced practice in specialty nursing or healthcare management. The emphasis is placed on the development of specialty knowledge and skills that are necessary to the provision of healthcare management or therapeutic nursing interventions at an advanced level. Students are also expected to further develop their competence in clinical or management decision-making and evidence-based evaluation in their relevant clinical specialty or healthcare management area.

Students admitted in 2020-21 may choose to study in one of the following study streams:

  • Cardiac Nursing (Cardiac Medical / Cardiac Perfusion)
  • Management and Leadership
  • Perioperative Nursing

Mode of Study

1-year part-time programme

Admission Requirements

  • Be a registered nurse with a valid practising certificate;
  • Have a bachelor’s degree in nursing or related discipline;
  • Have at least 2 years’ post-registration work experience in healthcare (preferable to have at least 6 years’ post-registration work experience for  Management and Leadership stream); and
  • Be currently practising in a specialty area related to the chosen study stream.
