Prof. Henry Wong, Pro-Vice-Chancellor officiated at the opening ceremony with Prof. Ho Che-wah, Chairman of the Department of Chinese Language and Literature of CUHK, and the two writers. In the ceremony, Mr. Akbar Majit and Prof. Ho signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to organize the programme under which prestigious mainland writers will be invited to visit CUHK, giving lectures and taking part in seminars to promote academic exchange in Chinese Literature. In his opening speech, Prof. Wong stated that the programme not only builds and enhances ties between CUHK and the scholars from mainland China in Chinese Literature, but also maximizes the unique cultural advantage of Hong Kong.
Two writers of this year shared their views in Chinese Literature with audience on CUHK campus. Prof. Ge Fei presented his ideas with a theme entitled "Author of Literature". Mr. Akbar Majit gave introduction on the writers, literary work and environment in contemporary China. The lectures attracted about 400 attendees, including academics from CUHK, teachers and students of secondary schools and people from general public.
