Meeting of Association for Introducing Foreign Intelligence under Chinese Association of Higher Education
Meeting of the Association for Introducing Foreign Intelligence, Sub-association of Chinese Association of Higher Education was held in Hong Kong and Macau from 10 to 13 December 2012. On 11 December, around 30 participants from 17 institutions in Mainland China and Macau visited the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK).
The delegation comprised Vice-Presidents and heads of academic exchange units and they are warmly received by Prof. Gordon Cheung, Associate-Pro-Vice-Chancellor of CUHK, President of Asia-Pacific Association for International Education. Discussions were held at the meeting on topics relating to new course format, partnership development and cultural interflow between local and international students.
The visits and meetings provided opportunities for the Vice-Presidents and academic exchange heads to share their experience in internationalization of higher education sector. Participants not only obtained valuable knowledge of the latest development of international education, but also established stronger links with each other.
The Association for Introducing Foreign Intelligence is formed by a group of tertiary institutions dedicating efforts to promote internationalization and academic exchange for higher education in China. Main functions involved exchange seminars, training class and information sharing. CUHK is a member of the Standing Committee of the Association.

Collaboration with Cheng Kung University
Prof. Pao-Shan Yu, Dean of College of Engineering, Cheng Kung University (NCKU) led a delegation to visit the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) on 18-19 December 2012 to learn more about the research development of CUHK and discuss collaboration projects.
The delegates were warmly welcomed in CUHK. They met with representatives from the Faculty of Engineering including Prof. Lee Tan, Deputy Dean; Prof. Yam Yeung, Director of Energy Engineering; representatives from the Departments of Mechanical and Automation Engineering, and Electronic Engineering. They toured research facilities on precision engineering, solar energy and new materials in Shenzhen. Visits were also paid to the Institute of Environment, Energy and Sustainability and meeting was held with Prof. Leung Yee, the Director; Prof. Fung Tung, Associate Director (Administration); Prof. Jimmy Yu, Associate Director (Research) and representatives from Life Sciences and Medicine to discuss on student exchange and collaborative research.
The delegation obtained more information about the latest development of CUHK, particularly in new energy and engineering courses. Representatives from the two universities updated with each other the major research projects of their respective areas and discussed on possible arrangement for student exchange in energy and engineering. The visit consolidated the existing collaborative efforts of CUHK with NCKU and enhanced ties for future development in engineering and new energy.
