China Links Seminar 2013 - Shenzhen Government's Support in Science and Technology Innovation

 

On 9 May 2013, a 17-member delegation led by Mr. Li Zhongxiang, Deputy Inspector of Science and Technology Innovation Committee of Shenzhen Municipality, visited the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) to introduce the policy of Shenzhen Government on research and technology development for China Links Seminar 2013.

 

Representatives from the Committee on Science and Technology Innovation of Shenzhen gave an overview on the latest development in Shenzhen and delivered information on a variety of policies regarding Shenzhen Government's support in science and technology innovation. The speakers encouraged CUHK members to participate actively in research and science collaboration in Shenzhen. The seminar attracted more than 80 academics and members from Faculties of Engineering, Medicine, Science and CUHK Shenzhen Research Institute to attend.

 

The delegates also took the opportunity to learn more about the University's recent accomplishments during the visit. They met with Prof. Ching Pak-chung, Pro-Vice-Chancellor; Prof. Fanny Cheung, Pro-Vice-Chancellor; Prof. Henry Wong, Dean of Faculty of Science; and representatives from Offices of Knowledge Transfer, Shenzhen Development, Academic Links (China) and Research Administration to obtain the updated information of research and technology developments in CUHK.

 

The visit and the seminar enabled the CUHK community a deeper understanding of the recent policy and funding opportunities in Shenzhen. They also provided a valuable opportunity to exchange ideas and build up links between CUHK and Science and Technology Innovation Committee of Shenzhen Municipality.

Graduate Program Information Sessions in Hangzhou, Nanjing and Wuhan

 

The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) organized graduate program information sessions at our mainland partner universities in Hangzhou, Nanjing and Wuhan from 20 to 23 May 2013. Fourteen academic and staff members from different faculties and schools of CUHK joined the event.

 

Members of the delegation comprised Prof. Wing Wong, Dean of Graduate School and representatives from Faculties of Arts, Education, Engineering, Medicine, Science, Graduate School and Office of Academic Links (China). Information sessions were held in Zhejiang University, Nanjing University, Southeast University, Wuhan University and Huazhong University of Science and Technology to provide students with comprehensive information about CUHK's graduate programs as well as the Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme. The sessions drew more than 400 teachers and students to attend.

 

The event not only provided a great opportunity for mainland students to learn more about the graduate programs offered by the University, but also showcased CUHK's academic and research achievements in Mainland China.
