The 8th World Women University Presidents' Forum was held in Wuhan of mainland China from 7 to 11 April. Over 150 female university presidents, senior members, specialists and scholars from 51 countries and regions over the world's five major continents were invited to attend the activity. Prof. Fanny Cheung, Pro-Vice-Chancellor of The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), joined the event on behalf of CUHK. She delivered a talk entitled "Promoting Gender Equity in Education: Tertiary educational exchanges in the Belt-Road Initiative" to share the University's experience.
The forum was co-organized by Wuhan University, China University of Communication, and the Women's Leadership Institute, during which delegates shared their ideas and had active discussions over the theme of "Future Education, New Leadership, Community with Shared Future for Humankind". In her presentation, Prof. Fanny Cheung showcased the University's effort into internationalization and gender quality, as well as relevant research projects and administration policies. She expressed the hope that the forum can enhance international cooperation and exchange in tertiary sector, further promoting human civilization.
Initiated and firstly hosted by the Communication University of China in August 2001, this forum is held every two to three years in mainland China, with the aim of creating an international platform for women university presidents and experts all over the world to communicate and collaborate, as well as to share new ideas and thoughts in the field of higher education. Over 1100 women presidents from over 100 countries and regions have been invited to the event.
