CUHK Meets SJTU on Deep Collaboration
Prof. Zhang Jie, President of Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) led a 15-member delegation to visit the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) and met with Prof. Joseph Sung, Vice-Chancellor of the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK). The two presidents co-chaired the second meeting of Partnership Steering Committee on June 20. More than 30 representatives from the two universities joined the meeting to update one another on joint projects and discussed future plans and directions. Participating CUHK members included Prof. Fok Tai-fai and Prof. Poon Wai Yin Isabella, Pro-Vice-Chancellors of CUHK; Prof. Wong Suk-ying, Associate Vice-President; Prof. Wong Kam-fai, Associate Dean of Engineering; and Dr. Andy Wong, Assistant Dean of Business Administration.
Fields of collaboration between CUHK and SJTU include robots, energy engineering, reproductive disease, diabetes, Asian business programme and academic Chinese. Apart from reports on project progress in the previous year, discussions were held on respective challenges and the opportunities to expand the scope of collaboration. President Sung and Presient Zhang put forward their opinions on the progress and hoped the teams will grasp the opportunities arisen from the nation's strategic development plan. Project representatives continued to have individual visits and meetings for further exploration.
SJTU has been a close partner of CUHK since the establishment of partnership in 1990. Collaboration projects between the two universities range from academic exchange, joint programmes, student activities and research collaboration. The Partnership Steering Committee was set up by the two universities in 2015 to oversee and monitor the collaboration with comprehensive planning and direction. The first meeting was held at SJTU.

CUHK Convenes the 2nd Partnership Steering Committee Meeting with Fudan University
The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) convened the second meeting for its Partnership Steering Committee with Fudan University on June 20. The meeting was co-chaired by Prof. Fok Tai-fai, Pro-Vice-Chancellor of CUHK and Prof. Zhou Yaming, Associate Vice-President of Fudan University. Around 40 representatives from both universities attended the meeting, during which they sought new opportunities and devised plans for further collaboration. Participating CUHK members included Prof. Wong Suk-ying, Associate Vice-President; Prof. Leung Yuen Sang, Dean of Arts; and Prof. Wong Kam-fai, Associate Dean of Engineering.
Members of each joint project under the Committee, including scholars in aging, public health, big data, economics and finance, humanities and history, as well as academic links, reported their respective project progress at the meeting. Many of them raised suggestions based on the existing ties on further developments to comprise signature student programmes and academic seminars, as well as joint research units to nurture talents and professionals. They also discussed the collaboration plan under the national "One Belt, One Road" initiative. Participating senior members of the two universities recognized the concerted efforts in various fields and hoped both sides can continue to enhance communication to further the developments of the joint teams.
Fudan University is one of the major key partner institutions of CUHK in mainland China. Since the establishment of partnership in 1985, both universities have carried out a wide range of collaborative projects from student activities and scholar exchange, to research collaboration and joint projects. The Partnership Steering Committee was set up by the two universities in 2015 to forge effective and sustainable relationship.
