The 19th Training Course on Management of Mainland Higher Education was held in Tsinghua University on 9 – 16 October. Office of Academic Links (China) (OALC) of The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) coordinated the participation of 34 academic and executive staff members from 13 local institutions, including four representatives of CUHK, among which are Professor David Chan, School Director of Hotel and Tourism Management; Mrs. Amelia Wong, Deputy University Secretary, and administrative staff of Office of Institutional Advancement and OALC.
The eight-day training programme, jointly organized by Tsinghua University and the Department of Educational, Scientific and Technological Affairs, Liaison Office of the Central People's Government (LOCPG) in the HKSAR, comprised a series of lectures covering a wide variety of topics related to the education, political, economic, social, diplomatic, and judiciary developments of mainland China, as well as issues concerning Hong Kong such as the National Belt and Road Initiative and the development of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
Apart from the lectures, participants also met with representatives of Tsinghua University to share experience in administration and management in higher education. The programme provided a great opportunity for participants to obtain in-depth knowledge of the recent developments on the mainland, and facilitated exchange of academic and executive members in the tertiary education sector from the two regions.
