Sharing Day for Ministry of Education (MOE) Interflow Program

Sharing Day for Ministry of Education (MOE)Interflow Program was organized by the Office of Academic Links(China)  [OALC] on 24 February 2014 on CUHK campus. 55 representatives from 35Mainland partner universities joined the event for sharing of experience and promoting student interflow programs in 2014. 

More than 40 CUHK members from academic departments, colleges and administrative units participated in the activities to enhance mutual understanding with their Mainland partners.  An Information Session on Student Interflow Programs was also held on the day, with an exhibition jointly presented by OALC and 23 mainland partners, being staged in the foyer of Yasumoto International Academic Park during the week, to provide comprehensive information and promote mainland experiential learning programs in 2014 to CUHK students. 

The Ministry of Education (MOE) Interflow Programme was launched in 2013 to support undergraduate and postgraduate students of higher education institutions in Hong Kong to participate in exchange and interflow activities in Mainland China. Mr. Wang Zhiwei, Director,Office for Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan Affairs of MOE; Mr. Ji Jianjun, Deputy Inspector, Education, Science and Technology Department, Liaison Office of The Central People's Government in HKSAR; together with Prof. Gordon Cheung, Associate Vice President of CUHK spoke at the opening ceremony, expressing that the interflow program has helped build links between students of CUHK and students from Mainland China, serving as avaluable experiential learning opportunity for academic and personal growth.

VC Meets Students from Zhejiang University

 

A delegation of 32 students from Zhejiang University (ZJU) led by Prof. Zhou Shengchun, Executive Director of the ZJU Center for Confucian Entrepreneurs and East Asian Civilizations visited theChinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) under the 'ZJU - Morningside Cultural China Scholar Scheme' on 19 February 2014.  Prof. Joseph Sung, the Vice-Chancellor ofCUHK, gave a lecture on 'Higher Education at the Cross-Road of 21st Century'and shared his insights on the development of higher education and the importance of whole-person development. The students next paid visit to Morningside College where they were given a lecture entitled Taxing Land and People by Prof. Sir James A. Mirrlees, Nobel Laureate and Master of Morningside College. The delegation also toured the campus and visited University Galleryto learn more about the University.

 

The delegates were selected outstanding students from thousands of undergraduates in different disciplines in ZJU. Upon joining the Scheme, they attended a series of lectures relating to international affairs and traditional Chinese culture. Apart from class training, the students had the chance to pay visit to Hong Kong to learn about a mixture of cultures from new perspective.

Taiwan –Summer Student Interflow Programs Now Open for Application

 

OALC will be organizing and coordinating a wide variety of interflow activities to Mainland China and Taiwan for CUHK studentsthis summer, ranging from voluntary teaching in Yuebei of Guangdong Province and Summer School in Beijing to scenic spots in Chongqing and a cool summer in Harbin and Blagoveshchensk of Russia.
