2013 Meeting of the Association of University Presidents of China and Presidents' Forum

The Association of University Presidents of China (AUPC) was founded in November 1997 with the objective to enhance linkage and foster academic excellence. Meetings and forums for member universities were organized and the 2008 meeting was held on CUHK campus. This year, Prof. Hau Kit Tai, Pro-Vice-Chancellor of the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), attended the AUPC Meeting and the Presidents' Forum on behalf of CUHK in Heifei from 9 to 12 October 2013.

Participants joining the Meeting and the Forum comprised the presidents/leaders of member universities and two overseas universities, including President Prof. Chen Jun, of Nanjing University; President Prof. Hou Jianguo of the University of Science and Technology of China; President Prof. Lin Jianhua of Zhejiang University; Prof. Wang Shuguo of Harbin Institute of Technology; Prof. Zhang Jie of Shanghai Jiao Tong University; President Prof. Zheng Nanning of Xi'an Jiaotong University.

Heads of the universities gave a variety of speeches on the topics relating to university education and took part in subsequent exchanges. In the Forum, Prof. Hau delivered a speech entitled Education in Information Era: Feedback, Cognitive Load, and Flipped Classroom to express his views in teaching and learning process. Discussions were held among the university leaders to exchange ideas and share experiences.

Ningbo-Hong Kong Economic Co-operation Forum

The Ningbo-Hong Kong Economic Co-operation Forum jointly organized by the Ningbo Municipal People's Government and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council was held on 15 October. The aim of the event was to promote co-operation between the two cities. 

Prof. Hau Kit-tai, Pro-Vice-Chancellor of CUHK attended the Forum, and signed a Letter of Intent on behalf of CUHK with Mr. Hong Jiaxiang, Vice-Mayor of Ningbo Municipal People's Government to strengthen cooperation on education, research, training and knowledge transfer between the two parties. Prof. Fok Tai-fai, Pro-Vice-Chancellor attended the Ningbo-HK Education Co-operation Forum on 16 October. CUHK has been making efforts in collaborating with academic and research institutions established in Ningbo, which will expand the scope and level of collaboration for the benefits of the two parties.
