The third Annual Meeting of Mainland, Hong Kong and Macau Academic Exchange Professionals Association was convened in the University of Macau on June 29, 2016. Around 40 representatives attended the event, among which include Mr. Wang Zhiwei, Deputy Director of the Office for Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan Affairs of the State Ministry of Education (MOE), and academic exchange executives from 24 tertiary institutions of Hong Kong, Macau and mainland China institutions. Ms Wing Wong, Director of Academic Links (China) and Ms. Samantha Wong, Senior Programme Manager of Office of Academic Links (China) joined the meeting on behalf of the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK).
Discussions were held on hot topics related to recent developments of collaboration in higher education, comprising opportunities driven by the national initiative of "One Belt, One Road" for Hong Kong, Macau and mainland institutions, and the expansion of the MOE Ten Thousand Student Interflow Programme. Participants took the opportunities to exchange ideas and raise suggestions on synergetic collaboration. The meeting enabled participating institutions to enhance their understanding of the recent development of the region's higher education sector, further sharing their experience to establish stronger links.
Found in 2014 by CUHK and other seven local tertiary institutions as well as 12 mainland and Macau universities, the Mainland, Hong Kong and Macau Academic Exchange Professionals Association aspires to promote communication and enhance collaboration among academic exchange administrators in the sector of higher education in the three regions. A general meeting among member institutions is held every year for exchange of views and discussions on further developments.
