Zhejiang Education Officials and Party Secretary of Ningbo University Visit CUHK
Mr. Liu Xiping, Director of the Education Department of Zhejiang Province; and Prof. Guo Huawei, Party Secretary of Ningbo University (NBU) led a delegation to visit the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) on February 1 to explore collaboration opportunities, particularly in research linkage and academic programmes.
Prof. Joseph Sung, Vice-Chancellor of CUHK; Prof. Wong Suk-ying, Associate Vice-President; Prof. Francis Chan, Faculty Dean of Medicine), and Ms Wing Wong (Director of Academic Links (China)) met with the delegates and exchanged opinions on various aspects of collaboration between CUHK and Zhejiang Province. Discussions were held on devising plans to take forward the initiatives. The delegates visited the University Gallery and toured around the campus after the meeting to get to know more about the latest development of the University.
CUHK has been in close partnership with the Education Department of Zhejiang Province and the universities in the region. CUHK signed a memorandum of understanding on establishing the Li Dak Sum Academic Exchange Fund for collaboration with NBU in 2011 to support academic and student exchange, as well as research and training between the two universities.

Visit of Public Health College of Taiwan University
Prof. Chen Wei J., Dean of Public Health of Taiwan University (NTU) led a delegation to visit the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) from 18 to 21 February. Prof. Chen met with Prof. Hsiung Ping-Chen, Director of Research Institute for the Humanities (RIH), CUHK to co-organize a seminar entitled "Nurturing Life in Time", with two themes being "Regional Health in Perspectives" and "Saving Life: Reflections" covering such issues as life education and public health. A collaboration agreement was also concluded during his visit.
The two units started collaboration in 2009, and have jointly held two Health and Humanities Symposia in 2011 and 2012 respectively at CUHK and NTU. The linkage in course collaboration and student interflow has also been actively kept between the two units. The signing of agreement will conduce to the partnership advancement in humanities and health between CUHK and NTU, paving the way for more solid and closer partnership development.

Vice-Chancellor Meets Zhejiang University Students
A delegation of 30 students from the Morningside Cultural China Scholars Programme of Zhejiang University (ZJU) visited CUHK on February 1, and met Prof. Joseph Sung, Vice-Chancellor of CUHK. Prof. Sung shared with the students his experience and knowledge as a doctor and university leader, as well as his views towards issues in the education sector and Hong Kong society.
Participating students interacted with Prof. Sung actively and kept asking questions during the meeting. They next visited the Institute of Chinese Studies (ICS) and Morningside College, where they met with Prof. Leung Yuen-sang, Faculty Dean of Arts and Director of ICS; and Prof. Sir James A. Mirrlees, Nobel laureate and Master of Morningside College.
The delegates were selected outstanding students from thousands of undergraduates in different disciplines in ZJU. Upon joining the Scheme, they attended a series of lectures relating to international affairs and traditional Chinese culture. Apart from class training, the students had the chance to pay visit to Hong Kong to learn about a mixture of cultures from new perspective.
