A research team from the Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) has developed a new Gene Expression Embedding frameworK (GEEK), which uses artificial intelligence technologies in machine learning and natural language processing to study the regulation of gene expression. 

A research team led by Prof. Liming Bian has developed a strongly bioadhesive hydrogel that can achieve the pH-independent and exceedingly fast in-situ gelation within 5 seconds. 

Prof. Tao Yufei has been elected Fellow of the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) in the class of 2020.

Prof. Pascal O. Vontobel has been elected Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) with the citation for contributions to graphical models for channel coding.

Prof. Wei-Hsin Liao received the Adaptive Structures and Material Systems Award by ASME for his  contribution to the field of adaptive structures and material systems through research, education, and technology transfer; and through the publication of more than 200 technical papers and numerous patents.

Prof. Yi-Chun Lu is being selected as one of the top 10 winners of Falling Walls in engineering & technology for her invention of a safe, high-energy, low-cost, and environmentally-friendly battery.

Prof. Wong Kam Fai has been named Fellow of the Association for Computational Linguistics (ACL) in recognition of his contributions to social media processing, particularly in Chinese information retrieval, opinion mining, microblog processing and rumour detection.
