A. The 31st Ch'ien Mu Lecture in History and Culture
Honorary Director of the Research Center for Chinese Philosophy and Culture of the Department of Philosophy of the Chinese University of Hong Kong and Distinguished Professor of Beijing Normal University Liu Xiaogan will visit New Asia College in mid March 2018 to host the 31st Ch'ien Mu Lecture Series in History and Culture. Professor Liu will deliver the following three lectures during his stay in Hong Kong:

NA Alumni Reunions 2018 (Upcoming)

Reunion dinner gatherings/activities for class 1978, 1988, 1998 and 2008 will be held on campus in 2018. These reunions are occasions for alumni to recapture happy moments of their university life, share experiences with each other, and provide the College with advice on its future development.

Professor Chen Lai chaired the New Asia Lectures on Confucianism 2017
|
The New Asia Lectures on Confucianism were launched in 2013 under the sponsorship of the Moonchu Foundation. Each year, a distinguished scholar in Confucianism studies is invited to the College to deliver a series of three public lectures, with the aim of arousing interest among academics and the general public in more in-depth exploration of Confucianism through discussion on various issues. The New Asia Lectures on Confucianism 2017 were successfully held in October 2017, with Dean of Academy of Chinese Learning and Professor of the Department of Philosophy of Tsinghua University Chen Lai, renowned historian of philosophy, as the keynote speaker.

Professor Jo-shui Chen chaired the Yu Ying-Shih Lecture in History 2017
|
Jointly organised by the Chung Chi College and the New Asia College and co-organised by the Department of History since 2007, the Yu Ying-shih Lecture in History invites an internationally renowned scholar in history every year to conduct lectures and academic exchanges. This year's Yu Ying-shih Lecture in History 2017 was sponsored by The KJ & HK Charitable Trust, and Distinguished Professor of History and NTU Chair Professor of the National Taiwan University Jo-shui Chen was invited to visit Hong Kong in November 2017 to share his views on the concept "Yi 義" in traditional Chinese thinking and culture.

Dr. Zhang Meng chaired the New Asia Lectures on Contemporary China 2017-18 (Second Lecture)
|
The Second Lecture of "New Asia Lectures on Contemporary China", supported by the permanent sponsorship of the Dato' Wong Kwing-keung Fund, was held in the Yun Chi Hsien, New Asia College on 23 October 2017. Dr. Zhang Meng, renowned author and brand founder, was invited to give a talk on "How You Spend Your Day Is How You Spend Your Life: Insights of Effective Life Management" to share her memories growing up and her learnings on the path to both academic and professional success. The lecture was moderated by Associate Professor of Economics and Executive Director of Lau Chor Tak Institute of Global Economics and Finance of CUHK Terence Chong.

Head's List (Merit) / Head's List (Service) and Student Achievement Commendation Ceremony 2016-17
|
The Head's List (Merit) / Head 's List (Service) and Student Achievement Commendation Ceremony 2016-17 was held on 2 November 2017 at Yun Chi Hsien on G/F, Staff Student Centre, Leung Hung Kee Building, New Asia College. The Head's List (Merit) and Head's List (Service) awards aim at commending the outstanding academic performances of College students of different departments and encouraging students to participate in extra-curricular activities within or without the University while acknowledging their spirit in voluntary services and capability in leadership. For 2016-17, a total of 266 students received the Head's List (Merit) awards while 4 students received the Head's List (Service) awards.

Mentorship Programme Inauguration Ceremony 2017-18
|
The Mentorship Programme jointly organised by the New Asia College and the College Alumni Association (NACAA) had come to its 17th year. With the great support by the NACAA and the effort of numerous alumni enthusiastic in engaging students' participation, more than 290 alumni and students were enlisted to participate in the programme this year. Their years of graduation ranged from 1968 to 2012, which showed that alumni in different stages of life all shared the spirit of passing the torch to the next generation. The College sincerely thanks our trustees and alumni for their enthusiasm and support.

The 66th New Asia College Graduation Ceremony
|
The College's 66th Graduation Ceremony was held at the University Mall on 16 November 2017. It was our honour to have invited Mr. Wong Ho-chiu, trustee and alumnus of the College, to officiate at the Ceremony. A total of 755 graduates were awarded graduation certificates this year.

The 40th Year Reunion of Class 1977
|
|
The 40th Year Reunion of Class 1977 was held at Yun Chi Hsien on 18 November, when over 50 New Asia graduates of 1977 came back to the alma mater with their family members to talk about their recent happenings with their former college mates and professors on this joyous occasion. Ms. May Cheng (1977/Sociology) and Mr. Anthony Yuen (1977/Personnel Management), the Masters of Ceremony of the day, invited a number of alumni from various Departments to go on stage to relate anecdotes within or without the campus in the old days. Participants took this valuable opportunity to revisit the campus together, including going to the New Asia History Gallery and looking for their names engraved on the graduate plaques at New Asia Concourse. A dinner banquet was held at Yun Chi Hsien at 7:00 p.m. that day, and Head of College Professor Henry Wong delivered his welcoming remarks. Ms. Anny Wong, member of the Executive Committee of the New Asia College Alumni Association (NACAA), was also invited to introduce NACAA's work and the activities they organised.

The 14th Thousand-people Banquet of Hong Kong Asia Lions Club
|
Organised by the Hong Kong Asia Lions Club in collaboration with New Asia College, the Thousand-people Banquet was held on the evening of 2 December 2017. This was the 14th year that this large-scale charity event had been held in New Asia College. There were altogether 96 tables of guests, with more than half of the tables attended by senior citizens.

Homecoming Banquet with the Head of College, CUHK Alumni Homecoming Day 2017
|
The annual CUHK Alumni Homecoming Day was held on 25 November 2017. Every year, many alumni were attracted to come back to the campus to attend this event, bringing along their relatives and friends. A series of fun activities, including visits and tours, handicraft market at the University Mall of the central campus, carnival game booths and children activities, made up the Homecoming Day. The game booth hosted by New Asia College Alumni Association (NACAA), as usual, was popular among alumni and kids.

The Winter Solstice and Christmas Party
|
The New Asia College Staff Association organised this annual event to celebrate the Winter Solstice and Christmas at Yun Chi Hsien, New Asia College on 22 December 2017. Staff members were very keen to sign up, and the 100 places were swiftly taken up. Game stalls were set up by the new Executive Committee, and Southeast Asian henna masters were invited to do henna painting for the participants. Many staff members were attracted to the event and enjoyed a joyful party together.

New Asia College Mentorship Programme 2017-18 - Career Talks Day
|
The Career Talks Day of the New Asia College Mentorship Programme 2017-18 was held on 13 January. More than 150 New Asia College students and mentees participated in the event. The activity aimed at enabling students to obtain useful employment information through talks, sharing sessions and workshops, and to learn to get along with people from the speakers' experience sharing.
