Progress of the preparation for the construction of fifth student hostel

To implement our aim of providing a favorable learning and living environment for students, we are planning to build a new hostel. This is expected to provide an additional three hundred hostel places, to enable more students to enjoy the environment with Chinese cultural characteristics and experience living with other students.

New Asia College was awarded the "Most Supportive College" in the CUHK Golden Jubilee Marathon Team Award Ceremony

The University formed the CUHK Golden Jubilee Marathon Team and dispatched 1,800 runners to join in the Standard Chartered Hong Kong Marathon 2014.  Amongst the tremendous team, New Asia College students, staff and alumni contributed strenuously with enthusiasm and were fully engaged in this annual event.

New Asia Lectures on Contemporary China 2013/14

This year, the College is privileged that Professor Yi RAO, Chair Professor of Peking University School of Life Sciences, has agreed to be guest speaker for the New Asia Lectures on Contemporary China 2013/14. Professor Rao has delivered two lectures entitled 'Genes and Behavior' and 'Chinese Science Goes Up or Plateaus?' during his visit in March and April 2014. The moderator of the two lectures was Professor YAO Xiaoqiang, School of Biomedical Sciences, CUHK.

The 27th Ch'ien Mu Lecture in History and Culture

The 'Ch'ien Mu Lecture in History and Culture' is organized to enhance academic and cultural exchanges. Ever since Mr. Ch'ien Mu chaired the 1st Lecture in 1978, it has become a well-respected event within academia, and speakers who have been invited are all distinguished scholars in different fields of Chinese Culture. Since 2013, the lecture series has been endowed by the Mr. Chan Chi-sun Chinese Culture Fund.

New Asia College Mentorship Programme 2013-14 Reunion Dinner

The College had held a reunion dinner for the Mentorship Programme 2013-14 which 100 participants attended. After the welcoming remarks by our College Head, Prof. Henry WONG and the president of New Asia College Alumni Association, Mr. WONG Ho Chiu, completion certificates were presented to the mentees. Both of them thanked the mentors for all their hard work. They also advised the mentees to keep the mentor-mentee relationship forever.

30-year reunion for Class 1984

The 30-year reunion for Class 1984 was a joyful day, held successfully on 22nd February this year. . More than 160 alumni and their families came back to New Asia College to attend this event. At 3 p.m. that day, more than 30 alumni gathered at New Asia College Yun Chi Hsien, before moving to the New Asia Amphitheatre to take photos and watch a tree planting ceremony on the grassland in front of the Statue of Confucius. The college staff guided them around the University to recall the old days and discover the changes the University has seen.

Establishment of 2014 Class Coordinators

To strengthen the connection between alumni and the College, we have established a network of Graduating Class Coordinators since last year.

Lunar New Year Party 2014

Our Lunar New Year Party 2014 organized by the New Asia College Staff Association was held on 14 February 2014 at Yun Chi Hsien, New Asia College. Hundreds of colleagues celebrated the Western Valentine's Day, simultaneously with the Lantern Festival. The chairperson of NACSA, Dr. William Lau, gave his warmest greetings to all members and urged everyone to enjoy the delicious POON CHOI (盆菜). Professor Henry N.C. Wong, Head of the College, also attended the party and shared the happy gathering with staff.

2014 New Year's Gala

The New Asia College and the New Asia College Alumni Association co-organized the 2014 New Year's Gala in Cuisine Royale Hopewell Centre, Wan Chai on 20th February.

Alumni Reunions

Reunion gatherings for classes 1974, 1994, 2004 and 2013 will be held this summer. Reunions serve as valuable platforms for alumni to recapture happy moments of their university life, share their recent experiences with each other, and give valuable advice to facilitate the future development of the College.
