Lunar New Year Party 2013

Jointly organized by the Alumni Association and the Staff Association of New Asia College, the "Lunar New Year Party 2013" was held on 1 March 2013 at Cuisine Royale, Wanchai. The dinner was attended by around 360 friends including the honorable trustees, donors, alumni and staff who joined the happy occasion to celebrate the joyous festival of Chinese New Year.

Spontaneous Attraction—Intensive Training on Presentation and Communication Skills

With the generous support from the Dr. Wong Kwai Lam Fund, the 7th Intensive Training on Presentation and Communication Skills was held in October and November, 2012.

 

The Programme was hosted by Mr. James Bryce, a professional trainer in communication and presentation skills. It aimed to equip the participants with fundamental communication and presentation skills, and to increase their confidence in interviews, presentations and daily communication.

New Asia College Mentorship Programme 2012-13

By offered the mentorship programme, the College hopes the participants could learn from the alumni, regaining their personal experience and performed knowledge which can prepare them for the outside working world. At the same time, the alumni could set a good example by giving back to the College. New Asia Alumni who have graduated for more than 5 years are welcome to take the role of Mentors.

New Asia College/Yale University Student Exchange Programme

New Asia College and Yale University have been jointly organizing this exchange programme since 1993. Major objective of the programme is to enhance students' understanding of social, cultural and scientific issues in the two regions.

The 26th Ch'ien Mu Lecture in History and Culture

The 'Ch'ien Mu Lecture in History and Culture' aimed to enhance academic and cultural exchanges. Ever since Mr. Ch'ien Mu chaired the 1st Lecture in 1978, it has become a well-respected event within the academia, and speakers who have been invited are all distinguished scholars in different terrains related to the study of Chinese Culture. Starting from 2013, the lecture series will be endowed by the Mr. Chan Chi-sun Chinese Culture Fund.

Re-opening of Yun Chi Hsien

Since Yun Chi Hsien was closed due to the reconstruction of the space of the Staff Student CentreLeung Hung Kee Building, we all look forward to the news of the Re-opening of Yun Chi Hsien. The E-Newsletter now brings the good news to our noodles fans, Yun Chi Hsien is BACK!

New Asia Young Scholars Scheme 2013-14

This scheme aims to increase students' knowledge of Chinese history and culture, and empower them to become responsible individuals towards society as well as equip them with qualities that contemporary intellectuals and leaders should possess.

Establishment of 2013 Class Coordinators

To strengthen the connection between alumni and the College, we have established a network of 2013 Class Coordinators.

 

A number of 2013 New Asia graduates have been invited to serve as Class Coordinators with the goals of building and strengthening the connection between the College and alumni; assisting in the distribution of information and promotion of college events as well as supporting college's development in various areas.

Lunch gatherings with alumni hosted by Prof. Shun Kwong-loi

Prof. Shun Kwong-loi, Head of the College, has hosted several lunch gatherings on 19 April, 23 April and 25 April for Class of 1968, alumni of the 50's and Class of 1967 respectively at Yun Chi Hsien. Alumni shared these joyful occasions with reminiscences of their old days in New Asia. Prof. Shun took the opportunity to introduce the latest development and future plans of the College. He also expressed sincere gratitude for the continuous support from our alumni.

Alumni Reunions

Reunion gatherings for class 1973, 1983, 1993 and 2003 will be held in 2013. The reunion serves as a valuable platform for alumni to recapture happy moments of their university life, share with each other their recent experiences, and give valuable advice to facilitate the future development of the College.

Advancement Office

In order to develop and implement advancement strategy including alumni relations, communications and fundraising, the Advancement Office of New Asia College has been set up in 2012. The Office is also responsible for promoting Chinese culture (e.g. lecture series and workshops).

Welcome to join The Alumni Association of New Asia College, CUHK

The Alumni Association of New Asia College, which comprised 12 persons from the first two batches of graduates, was established in February 1954. Since its establishment in the 1950s, the missions have remained the same. It aims to promote 'New Asia Spirit', build up a closer rapport among alumni, and facilitate the development of our College. It also intends to enrich students' learning experience and publish the 'New Asia Alumni' newsletter.
