NA Alumni Reunions 2018 (Upcoming)
|
Reunion dinner gatherings/activities for class 1978 and 1988 will be held on campus in 2018. These reunions are occasions for alumni to recapture happy moments of their university life, share experiences with each other, and provide the College with advice on its future development.

In celebration of 50th year of graduation for the graduates of 1968, a group of enthusiastic 1968 alumni are organising a series of events. Alumni of 1968 and their family members are welcome to join this event, so are alumni of 1967 and 1969. Details are as follows:

"Dunhuang Art and Culture - An Overview"— Ms. Lee Mei-yin chaired the Second Lecture of New Asia College Cultural Talks 2017/18
|
The Second Lecture of the "New Asia College Cultural Talks", jointly organised by New Asia College and the New Asia College Alumni Association (NACAA) and co-organised by New Asia Middle School, was held at the school hall of New Asia Middle School on 3 February 2018. Ms. Lee Mei-yin, Visiting Research Fellow of Dunhuang Academy, Committee Member of China Dunhuang Grottoes Conservation Research Foundation, Advisor of the Hong Kong Institute for Promotion of Chinese Culture, and Vice Chairman of Friends of Dunhuang (Hong Kong), was our speaker. The talk was titled "Dunhuang Art and Culture - An Overview", and was moderated by Mr. Wong Ho-chiu, Trustee of New Asia College. The weather was extremely cold that day, but the lecture attracted the attendance of many members of the public as well as College staff, students and alumni, who contributed to the warm atmosphere of the venue.

"DREAM: The Alibaba Story"——Mr. Savio Kwan chaired the Third Lecture of the New Asia Lectures on Contemporary China 2017/18

Thanks to the permanent endowment of the Dato' Wong Kwing-keung Fund, the Third Lecture of "New Asia Lectures on Contemporary China" was held in Sir Run Run Shaw Hall, CUHK on 8 February this year. Mr. Savio Kwan, former Chief Operating Officer and President of the Alibaba Group, and currently Chief Executive Officer and Founding Partner of A&K Consulting Co. Ltd., was invited to give a talk on "DREAM: The Alibaba Story" to share with us Alibaba stories from an insider perspective and his experiences growing up. This lecture was moderated by Prof. Ma Xufei of the CUHK Business School.

Prof. Liu Xiaogan chaired the 31st Ch'ien Mu Lecture in History and Culture
|
|
The "Ch'ien Mu Lecture in History and Culture" aims to promote academic and cultural exchanges. Ever since its first appearance, the Lecture has been hosted each year by scholars with significant contributions and outstanding achievements in the various fields of Chinese cultural studies within and without the country. The lecture series has been receiving permanent endowment of the Mr. Chan Chi-sun Chinese Culture Fund since 2013.
The College was honoured to have invited Prof. Liu Xiaogan, Honorary Director of the Research Center for Chinese Philosophy and Culture of the Department of Philosophy of the CUHK and Distinguished Professor of the School of Philosophy of Beijing Normal University, to host the 31st Ch'ien Mu Lecture Series in History and Culture in mid-March 2018. Prof. Liu delivered three public lectures during this period. A banquet of two tables was specially held on 16 March at Yun Chi Hsien in honour of Prof. Liu, and the College to extend its warmest welcome to the speaker on this occasion.

Professor Peter Ng Kee-lin chaired the Fourth Yen Kwo-Yung Lecture in Life Sciences
|
The Fouth "Yen Kwo-Yung Lecture in Life Sciences", co-organised by the New Asia College and the School of Life Sciences, aimed at enabling the general public and students to better understand life sciences and to appreciate their essence, while promoting the values and application of life sciences in modern society. A total of three lectures of "Yen Kwo-Yung Lecture in Life Sciences", hosted by Professor of the Faculty of Science of the National University of Singapore and Head of Lee Kong Chian Natural History Museum Peter Ng Kee-lin, were held from 8 to 10 April 2018.

New Asia College/ Yale University Student Exchange Programme
|
New Asia College and Yale University of the US have been jointly organising this exchange program since 1993 to enhance Hong Kong and US students' understanding of social, cultural and technological development issues in the two regions through a series of academic seminars, symposiums and visits. This programme has been organised with Dr. Raymond Wong's generous funding support since 2015.

Genuine Communication – Intensive Training on Presentation and Communication Skills
|
The New Asia College organised the Workshops on "Genuine Communication – Intensive Training on Presentation and Communication Skills" in November 2017 to enhance the daily presentation and communication skills of our students and alumni. Generously supported by the Dr. Wong Kwai Lam Fund and conducted by professional trainer in communication and presentation skills Mr. James Bryce, the workshops aimed to help College students and alumni in better achieving confidence in conversing with others during interviews, presentations and daily conversation, improving fundamental communication and presentation skills, and strengthening techniques in enhancing team dynamics. This year, participants were provided with a brand new feature – a learning App which enabled them to continue practising and further enhancing their communication skills according to their own level and pace.

New Asia Young Scholar Scheme 2017/18 (Review)
|
The New Asia Young Scholars Scheme aims at promoting whole-person development among our students, igniting their passion for Chinese culture, and equipping them with sensitivity to social issues and leadership skills. Mr. Roland Lam and Ms. Wong Oi-yee have generously supported the programme since 2014.
The New Asia Young Scholars Scheme 2017/18 officially commenced in September 2017. Ten New Asia Young Scholar Students participated in a series of events, including various College Meetings, talks and alumni activities, to communicate and learn from professors, alumni and trustees of the College.

The 20-year of Reunion of Class 1998
|
The 20-year of Reunion of Class 1998 was held on 7 April 2018. More than 140 guests, including alumni and their families and friends, participated in the reunion. Beside a dinner banquet, a New Asia campus tour was arranged by the College for alumni to reminisce about their good old days while learning about the latest development and changes of the College.

Lunar New Year Party 2018
|
Organised by the Staff Association of New Asia College (NACSA), the party was held on 1 March 2018 at Yun Chi Hsien, New Asia College. Around 120 colleagues celebrated together and shared a copious pun choi (盆菜) feast. Head of College Prof. Henry Wong Nai-ching and the four Associate College Heads Prof. Chu Ka-hou, Prof. Chan Sun-on, Prof. Maria Tam Siu-mi and Prof. Tom Wan Yau-heng, together with Chairperson of NACSA Prof. Fan Xiaodan, attended the party. Dean of Students Prof. Terence Chong Tai-leung and Associate Dean of Students Prof. Jimmy Lee Ho-man were also guests of the party, which was filled with warmth and laughter.

Chinese New Year Party 2018
|
While the year of the Dog began, New Asia College and NACAA co-organised the Chinese New Year Party 2018 at Cuisine Royale, Wanchai on 9 March 2018. Over 300 alumni, students and friends of the College gathered to celebrate this festival with applauses and a series of fun activities.

2018 Class Coordinators
|
To strengthen the connection between alumni and the College, we have established a network of Graduating Class Coordinators since 2013. With the help of Class Coordinators, we hope to build and strengthen the bond between the College and alumni by effectively distributing news and promoting College events to graduating students of all Departments, and to solicit these future alumni's support and participation in the College's development.
