Alumni Reunions

Reunion gatherings for classes 1975, 1985, 1995 and 2005 will be held in 2015. The reunion serves as a valuable opportunity for alumni to recapture happy moments of their university life, share recent experiences with each other, and give valuable advice to facilitate the future development of the College.

New Asia College 65th Anniversary Lecture by Professor Tony F Chan

The lecture in celebration of the 65th Anniversary of New Asia College was held on 6 February 2015 at LT1, Yasumoto International Academic Park, CUHK. Professor Tony F Chan, President of The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, was invited as the speaker and Professor Wan Yau-heng as the moderator of the lecture entitled "What's math got to do with it?".

The 28th Ch'ien Mu Lecture in History and Culture by Professor Yu Kwang Chung

The "Ch'ien Mu Lecture in History and Culture" is organized to enhance academic and cultural exchange. Ever since Mr. Ch'ien Mu chaired the first Lecture in 1978, it has become a well-respected event within academia, and speakers invited are all distinguished scholars in different fields of Chinese culture. Since 2013, the lecture series has been endowed by the Mr. Chan Chi-sun Chinese Culture Fund.

New Asia Lectures on Contemporary China by Mr. Zhang Jun Sheng

Chairman of the Development Committee of Zhejiang University, Mr. Zhang Jun Sheng, who was the guest speaker of the "New Asia Lectures on Contemporary China", shared at the Student Dinner Colloquia with a topic "My 60 Years' Journey in the University" on February 3 evening.  The lecture, which was hosted by Professor Du Julan of the Department of Economics, attracted a number of students and teachers.

New Asia Lectures on Contemporary China by Mr. Yang Jinlin

This year, the College was also privileged to welcome Mr. Yang Jinlin, renowned media professional, as the guest speaker for the New Asia Lectures on Contemporary China.  Mr. Yang delivered two lectures entitled "Uncertain Times: Dreams and Reality, Crisis and Hope" and "Self-reliance and Self-governance: The Return of Hong Kong to The PRC and No Change for 50 Years" during his visit in March 20 and 21.  The moderator of the two lectures was Professor Ma Xufei of the CUHK Business School.

Yen Kwo-Yung Lecture in Life Sciences by Professor Tsui Lap-Chee

2015 marked the beginning of "Yen Kwo-Yung Lecture in Life Sciences". The series of lectures, co-organised by New Asia College, CUHK and School of Life Sciences, CUHK, aims at promoting the understanding, essence, values and application of Life Sciences in modern society among the general public and students.

Completion Ceremony of Kweilin Street Public Open Space (New Asia College Former Site)

On April 17, a group of over thirty distinguished guests comprising the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the College, Mr. Charles Leung, Pro-Vice-Chancellor/Vice-President, Professor Michael Hui, College Head, Professor Henry Wong, trustees, alumni who graduated in the 1950s', college staff and students celebrated at the Completion Ceremony of Kweilin Street Public Open Space (New Asia College Former Site).  The ceremony was officiated by the Chairman of the Urban Renewal Authority (URA), Mr. Victor So Hing-who, Mr. Charles Leung and the Chairman of Sham Shui Po District Council, Mr. Jimmy Kwok Chun-wah. 

Genuine Communication—Intensive Training on Presentation and Communication Skills

With the generous support from the Dr. Wong Kwai Lam Fund, the ninth intensive training on Presentation and Communication Skills was held in October and November 2014.  The program was presented by Mr. James Bryce, a professional trainer in communication and presentation skills. It aims to equip the participants with fundamental communication and presentation skills, and to increase their confidence in interviews, presentations and daily communication.

New Asia College/ Yale University Student Exchange Programme

New Asia College and Yale University have been jointly organizing this exchange program since 1993. The major objective of the program is to enhance students' understanding of social, cultural and scientific issues in the two regions. Starting from 2015, the program is generously supported by Dr. Raymond Wong.

Reunion dinner for the Mentorship Program 2014-15

New Asia College Mentorship Program has been in operation for 15 years and has received positive feedback from NA students. The College held a reunion dinner for the Mentorship Program 2014-15 on 28 March. Over 100 mentors and mentees attended the dinner and enjoyed the evening together at Yun Chi Hsien.

New Asia Young Scholar Scheme 2014/2015 (A Final Review)

New Asia Young Scholar Scheme aims at providing students with whole-person education, increasing their knowledge of Chinese history and culture, and empowering them to become individuals responsible towards society, displaying qualities that contemporary intellectuals and leaders should possess.

Establishment of 2015 Class Coordinators

To strengthen the connection between alumni and the College, we have established a network of Graduating Class Coordinators since 2013.

 

A number of 2015 New Asia graduates have been invited to serve as Class Coordinators with the goals of building and strengthening the connection between the College and alumni; assisting in the distribution of information and promotion of college events as well as supporting college's development.

Lunar New Year Party 2015

Organized by Staff Association of New Asia College (NACSA) the party was held on 5 March 2015 at Yun Chi Hsien, New Asia College. Hundreds of colleagues celebrated the Lantern Festival together. The chairperson of NACSA, Dr. William Lau, gave his warmest greetings to all members and invited everyone to enjoy the delicious POON CHOI(盆菜). Professor Henry N.C. Wong, Head of the College also attended the party and shared the happy gathering with staff.

2015 New Year's Gala

The New Asia College and the New Asia College Alumni Association co-organized the 2015 New Year's Gala at Cuisine Royale Hopewell Centre, Wan Chai on 6 March 2015. More than 300 alumni and friends participated in this year's gala.
