MAJOR PAST EVENTS Symposium on Reproductive Biology |

Jointly organized by the Reproduction, Development, and Endocrinology Program of the School of Biomedical Sciences (SBS); The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) – Shandong University (SDU) Joint Laboratory on Reproductive Genetics; and the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Faculty of Medicine, CUHK, the Symposium on Reproductive Biology was held at Lo Kwee-Seong Integrated Biomedical Sciences Building on 4 February 2015.

A group of five Form 5 students from the United Christian College (Kowloon East) visited the School of Biomedical Sciences on 16 February 2015.

| Spring Festival Party 2015 | |
The SBS Spring Festival Party 2015 (the Party) was successfully held on 27 February 2015 at the Lo Kwee-Seong Integrated Biomedical Sciences Building. About 300 teaching and non-teaching staff members, postgraduate students and invited guests participated in the Party.

Coordinated by our School members, two group research proposals have been selected for the "Research Grants Council (RGC) Collaborative Research Fund (CRF) 2014-15".

| Prof. Huang Yu received the "2014 State Natural Science Award" Second-class Award | |
Prof. Huang Yu, Professor and Chief of the Vascular and Metabolic Biology Program of our School, has recently been awarded the "2014 State Natural Science Awards" (SNSA) second-class award in recognition of his collaborative research on the critical role of transient receptor potential against metabolic vascular dysfunction, which has been conducted with Professors Zhu Zhiming, Liu Daoyan and Yan Zhencheng from the Third Military Medical University, China.

| The "Health and Medical Research Fund (HMRF)" obtained by School members | |
|
According to the official announcement by Food and Health Bureau, Hong Kong Special Administrative Region in January 2015, 14 members of our School were awarded the "Health and Medical Research Fund (HMRF) 2013", grossing an approximate amount of HKD13 millions. The number of grants has accounted for about one-sixth of the total number of grants obtained by the whole University in this call.

According to the recent official announcement by the Campus Planning and Sustainability Office, our School was awarded as one of the "Competent Green Office 2014" under the University's Green Office Programme (GO!).

| 2nd Meeting of the Steering Committee on Collaboration between The Chinese University of Hong Kong and The Chinese Academy of Sciences | |
Following the 1st meeting in April 2014, a delegation of 15 members from CUHK as led by Prof. Fanny M.C. Cheung, Pro-Vice-Chancellor/Vice-President (Research), participated in the 2nd Meeting of the Steering Committee on Collaboration between The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) and the Chinese Academy of Science (CAS), which was held at Shenzhen Institutes of Advanced Technology (SIAT) on 1 April 2015.
