The Career Talks Day of the New Asia College Mentorship Programme 2020/21 was held on 16th January. Besides mentees and other students, alumni who graduated in 2016 to 2020 are also welcome. Due to the pandemic, the event was held online and over 180 participants were greatly benefited.

Professor Zhao Changhong and Professor Bryan Mercurio Receive RGC Awards
|
The Research Grants Council (RGC) has presented awards to six outstanding scholars from The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) and two of them are affiliated to our College. Professor Zhao Changhong, Assistant Professor of the Department of Information Engineering, were given the Early Career Award. Meanwhile, Professor Bryan Mercurio, Simon F.S. Li Professor of Law, is one of the awardees of the Humanities and Social Sciences Prestigious Fellowship. Our heartiest congratulations!

Professor Yilin Wu Named inaugural RGC Research Fellow
|
Four scholars from The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) received the inaugural RGC Senior Research Fellow Scheme and RGC Research Fellow Scheme awards (2020/2021) presented by the Research Grants Council (RGC) in recognition of their distinguished research achievements. Affiliated to the College, Professor Yilin Wu, Associate Professor of the Department of Physics named in the RGC Research Fellow Scheme receives a grant of around $5.2 million. The project title of his research is “Self-organisation of Bacterial Active Matter in Viscoelastic Fluids and Gels”. Our heartiest congratulations!

Professor Peiyong Jiang Becomes First Hong Kong Scholar Elected Senior Member of the National Academy of Inventors
|
Affiliated to the College, Professor Peiyong Jiang, a bioinformatician and Assistant Professor from the Department of Chemical Pathology at the Faculty of Medicine, has been elected a senior member of the National Academy of Inventors (NAI), in recognition of his inventive work in producing technologies that have the potential to make a real impact on the welfare of society. Professor Jiang is the first scholar from a Hong Kong institution to receive this senior membership. Our heartiest congratulations!

Two outstanding projects led by researchers of The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) have been granted over HK$140 million in funding in the ninth round of the Areas of Excellence (AoE) Scheme under the University Grants Committee (UGC). The project “Centre for Medical Engineering of Molecular and Biological Probes”, led by Professor Nathalie Wong, Department of Surgery of the Faculty of Medicine who is affiliated to the College, received funding of over HK$71 million. Professor Jianbin Xu and Professor Xinhui Lu named Most Highly Cited Researchers
|
11 professors of The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) have earned the honour of being named in the list of “Highly Cited Researchers 2020” as among the world’s top researchers who have demonstrated significant and broad influence reflected in their publication of multiple papers, highly cited by fellow academics. Two of the named professors are affiliated to the College, including Professor Jianbin Xu, Professor of the Department of Electronic Engineering, and Professor Xinhui Lu, Assistant Professor of the Department of Physics.
