Twenty-First Century Bimonthly, Research Centre for Contemporary Chinese Culture

Twenty-First Century Bimonthly (Issue 166, April 2018) has been released. The Twenty-First Century Review has the special theme "Sino-American Relations". Four professors were invited to write on the prospect of Sino-American relations:

"Sino-American Relations: Retrospect and Prospect" by Ezra F. Vogel, "Competition and Cooperation between China and the United States in Constructing the Post-war World Order" by Zhao Sui-sheng, "China's Strategic Diplomacy in Response to the Changing International Environment" by Shi Yin-hong, and "Donald J. Trump and the Future of Sino-American Relations" by Hung Ho-fung.

Five research articles are included in this issue.

Catalogue of the Exhibition "Legacy of the Heavenly Breeze: The Art of Gao Qifeng, Chao Shao-an & Au Ho-nien", Art Museum

This bilingual catalogue with full-colour illustrations is published in conjunction with the exhibition "Legacy of the Heavenly Breeze: The Art of Gao Qifeng, Chao Shao-an & Au Ho-nien", which features a selection of 65 works of altogether 85 Lingnan School paintings and calligraphy from the collections of the Art Museum, Chung Chi College, Prof. To Cho-yee, and Prof. Au Ho-nien. Some of the works have hitherto been unpublished. Also included are essays by Prof. To Cho-yee, former Chair Professor of Education, CUHK; Prof. Leung Yuen-sang, Dean of Art Faculty, CUHK; and Dr. Phil Chan of the museum. This catalogue serves to showcase the art of the Heavenly Breeze of the Lingnan School of Painting.

 

Catalogue of the Exhibition "Phoenix Reborn: Zeng and Chu Jades Excavated from Hubei", Art Museum

This bilingual catalogue is published in conjunction with the exhibition, "Phoenix Reborn: Chu Jades Excavated from Hubei", jointly organized by The Hubei Provincial Museum and the Art Museum, The Chinese University of Hong Kong. The catalogue features jades excavated in Hubei Province from tombs in Guojiamiao, Shanwan, Wangpo, Zeng and Jiuliandun dated from the Zhou Dynasties to the mid- and late Warring States period. Also included are essays by Mr. Fang Qin, Director of The Hubei Provincial Museum and the Hubei Provincial Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology; Mr. Zhai Fuwen, Researcher of The Hubei Provincial Museum and the Hubei Provincial Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology; Mr. Ji Kunzhang, Researcher of Shanxi Provincial Institute of Archaeology; Prof. Xu Xiaodong, Associate Director of the Art Museum, The Chinese University of Hong Kong; Ms. Yang Jing, Researcher, The Palace Museum, Beijing; and Dr. Tsai Ching Liang, Researcher, The National Palace Museum, Taipei. Together they provide comprehensive accounts on the stylistic features, functionality and development history of jade in Hubei Province in the ancient times and illustrate the distinct features of the culture of Chu jades and its relationship with that of Zeng jades.
