The College’s 70th Graduation Ceremony was held on 4 November 2021 at the University Mall. Professor Chu Ka-hou, Emeritus Professor and Former Director of the School of Life Sciences of The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Honorary Fellow and Former Associate Head of New Asia College, was invited to officiate at the Ceremony. About 800 graduates were awarded graduation certificates this year. An on-site Ceremony resumed, and livestreaming was also available for graduates and their parents on that day. More than 50 College trustees, guests and staff attended the Ceremony.
This was the first time that Professor Chan Sun-on officiated at the Ceremony as College Head, which was particularly meaningful to him as a New Asia alumnus. Professor Chan extended his congratulations and encouraged graduates to stay strong in times of adversity, and to lead a meaningful life.
Officiating guest Professor Chu Ka-hou shared with graduates about the importance of sincerity and earnestness by illustrating the life and research of Historian Professor Yu Ying-shih, who was among the College’s first batch of graduates and served as our 5th College Head. Professor Chu encouraged graduates to live with their own ideals and an unfettered realm. A group photo of all attendees was taken at the University Mall which marked the end of the Ceremony.
