The Second Lecture of the "New Asia College Cultural Talks", jointly organised by New Asia College and the New Asia College Alumni Association (NACAA) and co-organised by New Asia Middle School, was held at the school hall of New Asia Middle School on 3 February 2018. Ms. Lee Mei-yin, Visiting Research Fellow of Dunhuang Academy, Committee Member of China Dunhuang Grottoes Conservation Research Foundation, Advisor of the Hong Kong Institute for Promotion of Chinese Culture, and Vice Chairman of Friends of Dunhuang (Hong Kong), was our speaker. The talk was titled "Dunhuang Art and Culture - An Overview", and was moderated by Mr. Wong Ho-chiu, Trustee of New Asia College. The weather was extremely cold that day, but the lecture attracted the attendance of many members of the public as well as College staff, students and alumni, who contributed to the warm atmosphere of the venue.
Ms. Lee displayed over 300 amazing images and related one lyrical Dunhuang story after another. She also brought along many valuable items, including an embroidered kasaya from the period of late Qing Dynasty to early Republic of China, a lapis lazuli of Afghanistan origin, and a censer of the late Qing era, to share with the audience at the venue. This received an enthusiastic response and inspired fruitful discussion between the speaker and the audience while the latter examined the collection.
