New Asia College Lecture Series (Upcoming)

A. The 70th Anniversary Lecture of New Asia College cum 32nd Ch'ien Mu Lecture in History and Culture 

The Ch'ien Mu Lecture in History and Culture is endowed by the Mr. Chan Chi-sun Chinese Culture Fund. Professor of Chinese Literature of the Department of East Asian Languages and Civilizations of Harvard University Li Wai-yee will visit New Asia College in mid-March 2019 to host the 70th Anniversary Lecture cum 32nd Ch'ien Mu Lecture in History and Culture. Professor Li will deliver the following three lectures during her stay in Hong Kong:

First Lecture:

Topic: Objectifying People and Humanizing Things inthe Chinese Tradition

Moderator: Professor Henry N.C. Wong, Head of New Asia College, CUHK

Second Lecture:

Topic: Elegance and Vulgarity: Ming Qing Literatureand Material Culture

Venue: Lecture Theatre, G/F, Hong Kong Central Library

 

Third Lecture:

Topic: Inconvenient or Unnecessary Details in Zuozhuan

Moderator: Professor Cheung Kam Siu, Department of Chinese Language and Literature, CUHK

Date: 20 March 2019 (Wednesday)

Time: 4:30 p.m.

Venue: Swire Hall 2, Fung King Hey Building, CUHK

B. The 70th Anniversary Lecture of New Asia College &Yen Kwo-Yung Lecture in Life Sciences

 

The Yen Kwo Yung Lecture in Life Sciences is endowed by the Mr. Yen Kwo Yung Memorial Fund. This year's lectures will be held in March, with Sir Richard J. Roberts, Ph.D., F.R.S., 1993 Nobel Laureate in Physiology or Medicine and Chief Scientific Officer of New England Biolabs Inc., as the guest speaker. Details of the lectures are as follows: 

 

First Lecture:

Topic: Exploring Bacterial Methylomes
