The "Study of the Pattern of Hidden Elderly in Public Estates" focuses on a group of elderly residents of Cheung Wah Estate, Fanling. Project members attended a workshop in early-October to learn about the elder community in public estates and how to perform community investigation. Home visits to more than 60 hidden elderly in Cheung Wah Estate then took place in the last two weekends in October, through which members put knowledge into practice. In the sooner future, members will proceed with in-depth interviews with the selected elderly, and try different means of intervention to foster an active community life for the hidden elderly.
As for the "Study of the Child Caretaker in Grass-roots Families", the subjects are the child caretakers residing in the sub-divided flats in Kwun Tong. Project members underwent a series of training activities in October to get themselves familiar with the research skills. They are now preparing for the visits to individual caretakers to understand the difficulties and challenges encountered by them. The research outcome will be converted into multi-media works to arouse public concerns about the caretakers and to build up a friendly environment for them.
