(1) DIY Leather Workshop
The Staff Association organized a DIY Leather Workshop on 9 March. Instructor Ms. Isa Lai taught the participants how to make card holders and Japanese omamoris.
Experienced in leather goods design and production, Ms. Lai has worked with several fashion labels on their leather products. She began the workshop by introducing some basic knowledge about leather as a material, then gave detailed instructions on the leather card holder and the Japanese omamori. Because of the complexity of its pattern, participants who chose to make the card holder took longer to finish their item. After the two-hour workshop, participants were all very satisfied with the leather accessories they made.
(2) Pastel Nagomi Art Workshop
The Staff Association also organized a Pastel Nagomi Art Workshop on 8 May. Pastel Nagomi Art aims at allowing participants to achieve calmness through drawing, so that they can have space to reflect and reorganize life.
Instructor Joan talked about her experience when she was first exposed to Pastel Nagomi Art. After explaining the techniques, she instructed the participants to use their fingers to blend the pastel to create the painting. Apart from making a personal piece, there was also a parent-child session where some participants collaborated with their children to create a special painting. As Mothers’ Day was approaching, Joan also taught a themed pattern for the children to gift to their mothers.
