Published by the Department of Fine Arts and the Alumni Association of Fine Arts Department, CUHK and funded by the Hong Kong Arts Development Council, the book Li Tung Keung is now in circulation. Commemorating the late Prof. Li Tung Keung (1931–2019) who had taught at the Department of Fine Arts, CUHK, the book features a collection of essays written by Professor Li on art education, art theories, his works from various periods, as well as articles by artists and students. A chronology of Professor Li’s career and photos of past events were also included in the book.
As one of the early alumni of New Asia College, Professor Li taught at the Department of Fine Arts for many years. In 1957, the College established the Fine Arts Specialized Training Programme (predecessor of the undergraduate programme), and Professor Li was in the first cohort. Upon graduation, he stayed at the Department as a teaching assistant, and then pursued his studies on printmaking and sketching overseas with a scholarship from CUHK. After obtaining his degrees in the UK and the US, he returned to CUHK to teach at the Department of Fine Arts. Professor Li was an avid promoter of printmaking in Hong Kong and was known as the pioneer in the field.
