Starting at 3:30pm, the Ceremony first invited Mr. Charles Leung, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Prof. Henry Wong, Head of the College and Mr. Bill Lam to give their remarks. These were followed by a grand unveiling, officiated by Mr. Leung, Prof. Wong, Mr. Lam, Mr. Chan Chi-ming, Warden of Chih Hsing Hall, and Pang Tze-chun, President of the Chih Hsing Hall Association. The New Asia Chinese Music Society then performed a series of traditional folk songs, which were well -received by the guests.
Mr. Bill Lam graduated from New Asia College in 1975, with a degree in Bachelor of Business Administration. Apart from his remarkable accomplishments in the textile industry in Hong Kong throughout the years, he is also devoted to supporting the development of his alma mater. He has made a number of donations establishing various scholarships and supporting a series of projects related to College History, including the construction of the New Asia History Gallery. He serves as the Vice-chairman of the Board of Trustees of the College and a member of the CUHK 50th Anniversary Celebration Committee on Alumni Activities. As a former resident of Chih Hsing Hall, Mr. Lam believes in the importance of hostel life to non-formal education, and made a generous donation in support of the building of a new student hostel, so as to provide more opportunities for students to enjoy an all-rounded university education.
