The Second "Yen Kwo-Yung Lecture in Life Sciences" was co-organized by New Asia College and School of Life Sciences, aimed at promoting the understanding, essence, values and application of life sciences in society among the public and students.

The three lectures of "Yen Kwo-Yung Lecture in Life Sciences" were held from 11 to 16 April 2016. Professor Samuel SM Sun was invited as the speaker for all three lectures.

The first lecture "Science Essence: The Springhead of Motivation and Innovation" was held on 11 April in Y. C. Liang Hall at The Chinese University of Hong Kong. Professor Sun summarized his experience from his studies, and pointed out that passion and interest could inspire and ignite creativity in scientific research.

The second lecture, "Innovation", was held on 15 April in Sir Run Run Shaw Hall at The Chinese University of Hong Kong. Professor Sun shared his view on innovation. He mentioned that everyone has the potential to create and be innovative, and encouraged students to nourish their creativity and apply what they had learnt.

The third lecture "The Springhead of Scientific Research and Innovation" was held on 16 April in the Hong Kong Science Museum. Professor Sun continued to share his experience of training innovative minds and pointed out the importance of innovation to modern society.

"Yen Kwo-Yung Lecture in Life Sciences" was well received by students and the public and there were many keen interactions between Professor Sun and the audience at the Q&A sessions. New Asia College again expresses its heartfelt gratitude to Dr Yen Kai-Ming for establishing the "Mr. Yen Kwo-Yung Memorial Fund" which continuously supports the organization of the lecture series.
