Beginning with this issue, the College Newsletter will feature a series of articles written by members and friends of the College and addressing key areas of our joint planning and implementation work. These pieces will discuss how these initiatives flow from our vision, how we propose to put these ideas into practice, and the advice, feedback and support we seek from all involved in our burgeoning community. This short message constitutes a Foreword to this collection of articles portraying the large and multi-faceted effort.
The articles will be written by members with special responsibilities and interests in particular areas. Broadly speaking, they will appear in the order in which tasks and events will unfold. Thus, in this edition, Professor Thomas Au,who chairs the committee responsible for student admission, writes about the current thinking about the first cohort of students: what we are looking for, what we have to offer, and what we expect from our future students. In the next issue, there will be articles about how we propose to work with students to plan the orientation of new students, and the college-life activities that will, in part, distinguish the CW Chu College experience.
We hope that these articles, in a more personal style, will bring to life what we hope to do, and provide a platform for engaging our friends in joining us to think about how we can do better.
