In light of the fluctuating COVID pandemic situation since early this year, the College has been adjusting its administrative operation and activities arrangements according to the latest developments. To avoid the risk of virus spread during group gatherings, the College has called off various activities, including Ch’ien Mu Lecture in History and Culture, Yen Kwo Yung Lecture in Life Sciences, NA Night, Photo Day for graduating students, Chinese New Year Dinner, Farewell Luncheon & Presentation of Long Service Award Ceremony as well as a number of reunion gatherings for alumni over the past few months. All summer exchange programmes and overseas internship programmes, together with the New Asia College/Hunan University Summer Exchange Programme, New Asia College/Ewha Womans University - Global Student Partnership, Seminar on Chinese Moral Education and the Seminar on Traditional Chinese Cultural, were also cancelled.
As for our student hostels, the College has invited all residential students to have early check-out from hostels after the Chinese New Year, while providing hostel places for students with genuine accommodation needs. The College has been working closely with wardens in implementing various special measures in response to the epidemic situation.
To prepare for the new academic year, the University has implemented a series of response measures and announced conducting classes online until the pandemic situation becomes stable. The College will fully comply with the University’s epidemic control policies, which includes suspending hostel applications. Orientation activities for freshmen will be held online instead. Besides, the College has adjusted the arrangements for major events, such as suspending anniversary activities namely the Founders' Day cum Scholarship Presentation Ceremony, Tea Reception and the Thousand-people Banquet, also postponing the New Asia Lectures on Confucianism and the Yu Ying-shih Lecture in History. Overseas exchange programmes will also be suspended.
The pandemic has brought unprecedented challenges to colleagues and students of the College. We understand that some of the measures may bring inconvenience, yet such arrangements are to safeguard our health and wellbeing. Let’s join hands and fight against the COVID-19.
