Professor Peter Ng Kee-lin chaired the Fourth Yen Kwo-Yung Lecture in Life Sciences

The Fouth "Yen Kwo-Yung Lecture in Life Sciences", co-organised by the New Asia College and the School of Life Sciences, aimed at enabling the general public and students to better understand life sciences and to appreciate their essence, while promoting the values and application of life sciences in modern society. A total of three lectures of "Yen Kwo-Yung Lecture in Life Sciences", hosted by Professor of the Faculty of Science of the National University of Singapore and Head of Lee Kong Chian Natural History Museum Peter Ng Kee-lin, were held from 8 to 10 April 2018.

The first lecture "Reflections of a Hunter-Killer: Passion versus intelligence in Science" was held on 8 April at the Hong Kong Science Museum. Professor Ng shared his personal experiences in pursuing scientific research and his views on modern sustainable development and conservation research.

The second lecture "TRIFECTA?" was held on 9 April at Sir Run Run Shaw Hall of the CUHK. Professor Ng looked into the issues encountered by biodiversity and various  reflections on this subject at the lecture.

The third lecture "Games Scientists Play: Benchmarking, Publications and Impact" was held on 10 April at the Science Centre of the CUHK. Professor Ng reviewed his life as a researcher and reflected on the reason why he became a scientist in the first place in the audience's presence.

This year's "Yen Kwo-Yung Lecture in Life Sciences" was well received, and the participants actively asked interesting questions. The New Asia College would like to express again its gratitude to Dr Yen Kai-Ming for establishing the "Mr. Yen Kwo-Yung Memorial Fund", which continuously supported the organisation of the lecture series.
