Prof. Lam gave a lecture entitled “Historical, Cultural and Scientific Importance of Soybean” which was moderated by Mr. Lam Chi-kong, member of the Committee on New Asia College Cultural Talks. The lecture was very well received by the public, and was attended by people from various sectors, College alumni and students, either in person or online.
In the talk, Professor Lam introduced the elements of science and technology in history and culture which broadened the scope of “culture”. He also shared the importance of soybean in Chinese history and diet culture, as well as its role in food saftey and sustainable development of the world. Towards the end of the talk, Professor Lam, as a College alumnus, shared how his soybean research connected to humanitarian values. Participants actively took part in fruitful discussions with the speaker during the Q&A session.
