Since 1949, the development of ethnic minority education in China has gone through changes, and has made great progress in various aspects, such as institutional system, teachers’ qualifications, and investment support. In recent years in China, urban renewal has been taking place in areas which are dilapidated, old or unsuitable for urban development. This has not only become an important initiative to promote high quality urban development, but has also been elevated to a national strategy in the “14th Five-Year Plan” (2021–2025). In this issue of “The Twenty-first Century Review”, we present the topic of “The Prospects of China’s Urban Renewal” and invited some experts and scholars to share their thoughts on this issue.
