A Road to Single Password, Single Login ID and Single Sign-on
With an era of having a single password, single login ID and single sign-on*, we are happy to share our road map with you. Unifying a Single Password OnePass (CWEM) password has already been used in all centralized IT systems and services since Aug 2016. Moving to Single Login ID and Single Sign-on We are now moving to achieving single login ID and single sign-on. Similar to many popular platforms such as Facebook or Google Services, "email address" is usually a key for login across services and apps. In this way, we plan to adopt active directory federation services (ADFS)** across different IT systems to achieve single sign-on and email address will be the unified login ID. Hence, CUHKers can have a single login ID as- Here shows when we go "single": Schedule | Status | IT Systems / Applications | Any Benefits to You? | Late 2014 - Early 2016 | Launched | Office 365 for students and staff | -- | Summer 2016 | Launched | Registration and Attendance System (RAS) | Single Sign-on with Office 365 | Oct 2016 | Launched | On-campus WiFi (SSID) CUHK 1x | Automatic connection to CUHK1x after the first login | Jan 2017 | Implementing | New Learning Management System (replacing eLearning) | Single Sign-on with Office 365 and RAS | By Summer 2017 | Implementing | MyCUHK | Single Sign-on with new Learning Management System, Office 365 and RAS | Summer 2017 | Implementing | New IT System of CUHK Library, WiFi service under Wi-Fi Hotspot Partnership Programme (SSID - eduroam / Universities WiFi / CSL / Y5ZONE) and CUHK VPN | Single Sign-on with MyCUHK, new Learning Management System, Office 365 and RAS |

Hearing Your Thoughts If you have any questions or comments about the above plan, we are glad to hear from you at ITSC Service Desk (http://servicedesk.itsc.cuhk.edu.hk) . *Single sign-on is a property which a single action of login can gain access to multiple IT systems. ** Active Directory Federation Services (ADFS or AD FS) provides users with single sign-on access to systems and applications located across departments / units. It provides an access control to maintain application security and to link one's identity across different systems.
