Prof. Xu started by introducing some basic knowledge about jade such as its formation and nature, places of origin and the process from mining raw jade to becoming a work of art. Prof. Xu further explained why jade arts prevailed during Emperor Qianlong's reign and illustrated different jade arts of the loyal families by the presentation of photos and videos with citations to enrich audiences' appreciation of jade arts.
