The Memorial Service, which was postponed from 9 Oct 2021 due to bad weather, started at 3 p.m. and was conducted in hybrid mode (On site and Webinar). Professor Cheung Hiu-yu, Assistant Professor of the Department of History, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, has prepared an article about the life stories of Professor Yu, and read after the College Anthem and one-minute silence.
Then, eight representatives of The Chinese University of Hong Kong gave their eulogies. Addressers are as follows: Professor Rocky S. Tuan, Vice-Chancellor and President; Professor King Ambrose Yeo-chi, Former Vice-Chancellor and President of CUHK and Former Head of New Asia College; Prof. Leung Ping-chung, Former Head of New Asia College; Prof. Hector Sun-on Chan, Current Head of New Asia College; Professor Chen Fong-ching, Former Director of the Institute of Chinese Studies; Professor Leung Yuen-sang, Emeritus Professor and Research Professor of the Department of History; Professor David Faure, Emeritus Professor of the Department of History; and Professor Yip Hon-ming, Former Chairman of the Department of History. The Service ended after addressers gave their speeches.
The Preparatory Committee also published the Memorial Collection of Essays of Professor Yu Ying-shih which was distributed at the Memorial Service. In addition to eulogies, the book also contains 14 articles written by Professor Yu’s protégé and friends. Six letters from Mr. Ch'ien Mu to Professor Yu, as well as several pictures featuring Professor Yu’s life in New Asia and CUHK, were also included in the book.
