New Asia Young Scholar Scheme 2015/16 -A Final Review

New Asia Young Scholars Scheme aims at promoting whole-person development among our students, empowering their passion for Chinese culture, and equipping them with qualities such as sensitivity to social issues and leadership skills. Mr. Roland Lam and Ms. Wong Oi Yee Michell have generously supported the scheme since 2014.

New Asia Young Scholars Scheme 2015/16 officially commenced in September 2015. Eight New Asia Young Scholar Students have been participating in a series of events, including College meetings, talks held by the College, and alumni activities to communicate and learn from professors, alumni and the College council.

In addition to the various activities held in the first semester, which included "Communication and Emcee Skills Workshop – Communication, the Essential First Step", "Image Building Workshop", Chinese Arts workshop and the chance to sit in on a College internal meeting, a series of activities was also held in the second semester.

The New Asia Young Scholar Students had the opportunity to have lunch gatherings with different parties, which included guest speakers of College Lectures, teachers and New Asia alumni. They also had a chance to be the emcee in the Chinese New Year Party 2016.

Moreover, it was our honor to have Ms. CHEUNG Lai Chun and Mr. SOU Si Tai as our guest speakers to introduce the elegant art of Kunqu Opera (崑曲藝術) and Guqin (古琴) to the students. Dr. P. C. Chui, Dr. Joseph S. P. Ting, Professor Richard M. W. Ho and Professor K. C. Ng were invited as voluntary mentors for the second year. While having lunch with New Asia Young Scholar Students in a relaxing environment, they conversed on diverse topics with the students. New Asia College again expresses heartfelt gratitude for the precious time of the four mentors spent sharing their enthusiasm for Chinese culture with students, and enhancing their understanding of Arts, History, Literature and Language and Philosophy.
