New Asia College/ Yale University Summer Community Service Exchange

The New Asia College/ Yale University Summer Community Service Exchange programme, jointly launched by the New Asia College and the Yale-China Association in the academic year 2002/03, aims to facilitate mutual learning and exchanges between students with different cultural backgrounds from Hong Kong and the United States, and to enable them to understand the approaches and developments in community/ public services in various regions. Dr. Raymond Wong King-kwok generously sponsors this programme.

The programme is open for application in the beginning of the second semester every year. Selected students travel to the United States in May and June and work alongside Yale students as interns in different designated community service agencies for four weeks. Afterwards, the New Asia and Yale students travel to Hong Kong in early July to take part in the second half of the programme by participating in another four-week internship in similar community service agencies in Hong Kong.

This year, Fok Wing-ting, Hazel (English/3), Lai Tsz-ting, Teresa (Global Economics and Finance/1) and Yeung Pui-man, Joey (Medicine/2) were selected to join the community service programme on mental health, education and HIV/AIDS respectively in Hong Kong and the United States.
