The second lecture of "New Asia Lectures on Contemporary China 2018/19" was held at Sir Run Run Shaw Hall, CUHK on 15 February. It was our honor to have invited Dr. Lawrence Wong, New Asia College alumnus as well as Managing Partner of Big Data Elite Asia Ltd., to give a talk on "Applying Disruptive Technologies in the Rapidly Changing World".

Dr. Wong related the contemporary technological developments and analysed the application of various new technologies in today's China. This lecture was hosted by Professor Raymond Tong, Chairman of the Department of Biomedical Engineering of the CUHK.

Dr. Wong, being an expert in New Economy business, a Fellow Certified Public Accountant and a data scientist, had extensive work experience in various fields including information technology, financial management, customer relationship management and human resources, etc. He began the lecture by analysing the characteristics of the fast-changing global economy, mentioning the rise of a new technology-based, people-centered, platform-based economic model of shared economy. He then presented China's current international positioning.
