The "New Asia Lectures on Contemporary China" was successfully held during 26 - 30 October, 2012. Ms. Tu Qiao, speaker of our lecture series, is a renowned author, director and journalist in the Mainland China who has shown much concern about the marginalized society and has been devoted to the uncovering of contemporary social problems in China with covert coverage.
Ms. Tu delivered 2 public lectures during her visit to Hong Kong. The first lecture "A Dream for All: Exploring China's Marginalized Society" took place at Sir Run Run Hall on 26 Oct 2012 whereas the second lecture "Exploring Humanity: From Shenzhen's 'Mistress Village' to the Phenomenon of Mainland women Giving Birth in Hong Kong" was held on the following day at the lecture theatre of the Hong Kong Central Library. Hosted by Prof. Ma Xufei, the lectures attracted a lot of people and students. In the evening of 30 Oct, Ms. Tu met our students at the lobby of Chih Hsing Hall. Many students took this opportunity to exchange views with Ms. Tu on the social phenomenon in the Mainland as well as the Hong Kong-China relations.
