Jointly organised by the Chung Chi College and the New Asia College and co-organised by the Department of History since 2007, the Yu Ying-shih Lecture in History invites an internationally renowned scholar in history every year to conduct lectures and academic exchanges. This year's Yu Ying-shih Lecture in History 2018 was sponsored by Austin-Eminence Charitable Foundation, and Professor of History of the University of California, Berkeley Michael Nylan was invited to visit Hong Kong in November 2018 to share her views on Professor Yu Ying-shih's studies.
The First Lecture entitled "Yu Ying-shih the Historian" was held at the Hong Kong Central Library on the afternoon of 11 November 2018 and was moderated by Research Professor Poo Mu Chou of the Department of History of CUHK. The Second Lecture was held at Cho Yiu Hall at CUHK on 12 November 2018. The lecture was entitled "Yu Ying-shih the Sage", and was moderated by Professor Huang Yong of the Department of Philosophy of CUHK. Many students, staff members and members of the public attended the two lectures, which were significantly beneficial in promoting the study of history in CUHK and in Hong Kong as a whole.
