Ch'ien Mu Lecture in History and Culture 2013

The Ch'ien Mu Lecture in History and Culture was first established in 1978 with an aim to enhance scholarly and cultural exchange. Distinguished historian or renowned scholar in the field of Chinese culture will be invited to be the speaker Prof. Sun Shu-yue will be the speaker this year. Prof. Sun will deliver 3 public lectures in mid April.

Prof. Sun Shu-yue Philip graduated from the Chinese University of Hong Kong in the 1950s, and obtained his doctorate degree in English Literature at the Yale University. Upon graduation, Prof. Sun returned to the Chinese University of Hong Kong where he spent over three decades teaching in the Department of Chinese Language & Literature, Department of English and Department of Translation. Prof. Sun was the founder of the Department of Translation. He has also taught in the University of Iowa in the US and the National Cheng Kung University in Taiwan.

Prof. Sun's expertise is on the study of classical Chinese novels and literature, His recent interest is on English Language and Literature.
