Present around the table were the Founding Fellows – Professor Thomas Au, Professor Cecilia Chun, Professor Stephen Hall, Professor Jette Hansen Edwards, Professor Anthony Ho, Professor Vernon Hsu, Professor Jan Kiely, Professor Suk Ying Wong, Professor Kenneth Young.
In his opening remarks, Professor Young made a point of recognizing the college staff, Ms Melody Lee (Acting Secretary), Ms Alice Tang and Mr Sunny Cheng, and welcoming the specially invited faculty observers, who are already or will soon be affiliated with the College. These observers included Professor Angus Burnett, Professor Sek Ying Chair, Professor Evelyn Chan, Professor Mark Hsiao, Professor Chi Fai Lo, Professor Winnie Tsui and Dr Tsz Yeung Wong.
The meeting primarily approved and endorsed the months of preparatory work for establishing the college undertaken by Preparatory Assembly. More specifically, the Assembly of Fellows formally supported the adoption of the College's Constitution, Vision Statement, Standing Orders of the Assembly of Fellows, the College General Education Programme, the Committees under the Assembly of Fellows, and other ancillary preparatory decisions.
The gathered Fellows next enjoyed a vivid slide presentation update on the design and construction of the college buildings at the new site, much of which is currently the Shaw College tennis courts. This was followed by a briefing by Professor Young himself on the college budget and finances. Professor Hansen Edwards, in her capacity as chair of the College Life Committee, delivered the third and last substantial report regarding the committee's first set of proposals relating to college life activities and planning. Approaches to communal dining and High Table Dinners were at the forefront of this discussion.
