Since the establishment of the Department of Fine Arts in New Asia College in 1957, the College invited numerous masters of fine arts to cultivate many Hong Kong contemporary artists with their guidance that transcended geographical and historical boundaries. The exhibition aimed to showcase the fruits of fine arts education of New Asia College and to present our diverse artists from different generations.
The Opening Ceremony was held at 6:30 p.m. on 14 June. Over a hundred guests including the College's trustees, alumni, friends and members of the public attended the ceremony. The majority of the participating artists also came to introduce their art pieces and the concepts behind to the visitors.
Talks and other events complemented the programme of the exhibition. Renowned architect, artist and collector Mr. William Lim conducted a lecture on "Appreciation and Collection of Hong Kong Contemporary Arts" on 15 June. On 16 June, renowned artists Dr. Chui Pui-chee and Mr. Yau Wing-fung conducted a "Little Artist Workshop – Chinese Painting and Calligraphy" for children, followed by a "Still life drawing" workshop held by Mr. Louis Lai and Tang Shu-fung on the same afternoon.
The exhibition owed its success to the NACAA for their efforts in organising all the events, and to the Department of Fine Arts for their strong support. The exhibition presented to the public the achievements of our Department of Fine Arts after years of hard work, and was indeed a wonderful show.
