A group of alumni gathered at Yun Chi Hsien at 3:00 pm to set off for a campus bus tour to explore the new colleges and latest facilities in CUHK. After the tour, College Head Professor Wong joined them for photo taking at the New Asia Amphitheatre, and together they proceeded to the lawn next to the Statue of Confucius for the tree-planting ceremony to commemorate the 30th year of their graduation. A New Asia College campus tour led by College students then followed, and the alumni reminisced about their hostel life when they visited the hostels, which they happily found much better equipped than in the old days.
In the evening, over 120 guests including alumni and their families participated in the dinner banquet at Yun Chi Hsien. This year, the number of participating alumni exceeded 110, a record high for 30th Year Reunions of all these years. The programme commenced with the singing of the College Anthem, which the alumni still remembered well even after leaving the College for 30 years. As usual, the HKCAA invited former teachers through the College to join this event, manifesting the deep bonding between teachers and students. On this occasion, retired professor of the Information Engineering Department Yam Tak-shing was invited to join this joyous banquet.
Chairman of the NACAA Mr. Yiu Chun-hong and other members of the Executive Committee also attended in support of the event. Photos of the years past were shown on screen during the dinner. Nostalgic and reminiscent, the alumni were keen to share anecdotes from their joyful college days.
The College would like to thank the class coordinators for supporting the event and contributing to its successful conclusion. The College hopes that the Class of 1988 will continue to support College activities and to stay involved in the development of their alma mater in the days to come.
